Spring officially sprung a while ago now but with rainy showers creeping in around The Smoke & autumn not too far off, we’re digging out those custom jackets with all of the delights of spring/summer ’17 that we saw earlier in the year on the catwalk, in a bid to keep semi-warm & more importantly, dry…
Here in London one thing is guaranteed: rain. So how do we get to the office looking on trend while keeping those light rain showers at bay? Hot to trot little jackets cracks it. You wont overheat on the tube and you’ll look stylish nipping across the city.
The eighties resurgence is showing no signs of backing down, ripped denim, custom jackets, brights, florals and embellishments are everywhere. On the spring summer ’17 catwalk, Versace flaunted block panel colour on leather jackets, Hermes went for the classic coloured leather in hues of green and Dolce and Gabanna featured embellishment overload with their bejewelled jackets paired with ripped jeans.
And what of denim? Two words: oversized and custom.
Pairing trend with work-wear can be tricky. If you’re not lucky enough to work in fashion, your boss may not appreciate biker chic or custom denim walking through corporate corridors. Sarah Sitcher, city worker explains: “It’s not that cold, it’s simple, you wear your designer jacket to the office and take it off as you arrive in the building. It just feels much more stylish for after-work drinks, I leave my blazer in the office.”
Now we’ve got the green light, let’s rock and roll…
