If you want to improve your work ethic or productivity: improve your workspace. It’s a simple way of de-cluttering the mind and getting organised. We guarantee you’ll feel better having done so.
Organise the Desk
Organising your desk and clearing off the unwanted clutter will help to de-clutter your mind as well. This includes your desktop. Taking a few minutes out of your day to organise and file items in an orderly fashion can make all the difference. Not only will you be able to locate these more easily later on but you’ll feel more in control.
Make it a Happy Place
The workspace doesn’t have to be boring. Brighten it up with stationery in your signature colours. We’ve found quite a few which suit us at The Job Auction and have dotted them about this post. Choose what suits you and go wild. If you like yellow, go with that. A happy worker is a productive worker.
Breathe Life into the Workspace
It’s been said before but we’ll say it again, it has been proven that having a photograph of a loved one on your desk brings you joy everytime you look at it and can lift your mood. Plants in the workplace also help you to de-stress, a 2010 Nursery Study explains.
Plants which will fair best are those who need little water and are easily maintained, think succulents and cacti.
Organise your Desk Before you go Home
This might seem laborious but it’s a good one. Tidying before you leave will mean that when you arrive the following morning you’re prepped and ready to begin. It need only take five minutes. You’ll also likely forget that you did this the night before and when you arrive at your clear desk, it’ll bring you as much joy as your morning coffee.
